Middlesbrough Away

A good solid 2-0 win for United today. They played well and Middlesbrough never really threatened.

A couple of players were rested ready for the Champions League 2nd leg with Arsenal on Tuesday but the squad is good enough that any replacements can do a good job.

Ryan Giggs scored the first goal in his 801st game for United just a week after becoming the PFA Player of the Year. Giggs was a surprise winner of the award but looking back over his career, there's clearly a case that he sould have won it way before now.

I remember when Giggs made his debut back in 1991. He was 17 years old. Now, aged 34 he's still going strong despite having won everything there is to win (many times) and he's done it all playing for the same team which is especially rare these days.

The second goal of the day was scored by Park after a great ball from Rooney to put United 6 points clear of Liverpool having now played the same games and with just 4 remaining.

It's certainly not all over yet but it's looking good.
